# SmartThings Sensors and Controls for EPL

Everything Presence Lite appears in SmartThings with room presence, zone tiles, target tiles, and device controls.

## Main tiles

| Tile | What it means | Best use |
|------|---------------|----------|
| Presence | Overall room occupancy | Use this for most room-level automations |
| Zone 1 to Zone 4 | Whether each configured zone is occupied | Area-specific automations |
| Target count | Number of tracked targets in a zone | More precise zone logic |
| Target 1 to Target 3 | Whether each radar target slot is active | Diagnostics and advanced routines |
| Illuminance | Current light level | Lighting automations |
| LED  | Status LED control | Turn the device LED on or off |
| Restart Device | Restarts the device | Use when troubleshooting |
| CO2  | Carbon dioxide reading in ppm | Air quality automations, when the CO2 module is installed |
| Calibrate CO2 (Outdoor Air) | Starts CO2 outdoor-air calibration | Only use with the device in fresh outdoor air |

CO2 and `Calibrate CO2 (Outdoor Air)` only appear when the CO2 module is installed, EPL is running CO2-enabled firmware, and SmartThings has detected the CO2 sensor. Temperature and humidity are not shown for EPL in SmartThings.

## Which tile should I use?

Use `Presence` for normal room occupancy automations.

Use `Zone 1` to `Zone 4` when you want different actions in different parts of a room, such as a desk area, sofa area, or doorway.

Use `Target 1` to `Target 3` for diagnostics or advanced automations. These are radar target slots, not named people.

EPL settings in SmartThings include:

* Device address and port
* Occupancy off delay
* Maximum detection distance
* Illuminance offset
* Zone off delays
* Installation angle
* Exit threshold
* Upside-down mounting
* Entry/exit zone tracking
* Polygon zones
* Stale target cleanup
* Target-tracking detail level
* Update speed

## Zone setup note

SmartThings can use EPL zones once they are configured, but it is not a visual zone editor. Use [Zone Configurator](https://docs.everythingsmart.io/doc/zone-configurator-93b9scGsa2) when you need to draw or adjust room zones.

## CO2 calibration

The CO2 calibration tile appears when the CO2 module is installed, EPL is running CO2-enabled firmware, and the sensor has been detected by SmartThings.

To calibrate:


1. Move EPL into fresh outdoor air, or place it next to an open window with strong outdoor airflow.
2. Power the device and leave it running for 3-5 minutes so the CO2 reading can settle.
3. In SmartThings, open the EPL device.
4. Press `Calibrate CO2 (Outdoor Air)` once.
5. Leave EPL in fresh air for another few minutes before moving it back indoors.

Do not calibrate while the device is indoors, near people breathing on it, or in a poorly ventilated space. A bad calibration can make future CO2 readings inaccurate.
