Set up your EPL device in Home Assistant

WiFi Requirement: The EPL only supports 2.4GHz WiFi networks. 5GHz networks are not supported. Make sure you connect to a 2.4GHz network during setup.

If your EPL device isn't appearing in the Home Assistant app, you may need to update its firmware. To update your device, go to Restore or Update your EPL to factory settings using a computer and follow the instructions.

Add Everything Presence Lite to Home Assistant


  1. Make sure your Home Assistant instance is updated to the latest version to ensure compatibility with your EPL device.

  2. Plug your EPL device into power. You should see a flashing red light, indicating that the device is on.

  3. Open the Home Assistant app on your mobile device and navigate to Settings → Devices & Services.

  4. Look for a new device labeled 'everything-pr-xxxxxx' (Improv via BLE) and tap Add.

  5. Enter the Wi-Fi credentials for the network you want the device to connect to.

  6. Once you see the message "Wi-Fi connected successfully", you can close the prompt.

  7. Your Everything Presence Lite is now ready to be added to Home Assistant using the ESPHome integration.

We don't recommend renaming the device at this point if you want to use the Everything Presence Zone Configurator tool. Keep the default name to maintain compatibility.

Try This Now

Once your EPL is connected, try this to see it in action:

  1. Install the Zone Configurator add-on (see Installation Guide)

  2. Open the Zone Configurator and select your EPL device

  3. Walk around the room and watch your position tracked in real-time!
